Check out the new HTML5 WEBSITE APPLICATION!!!!!

The web app has MANY new features and we just added Chicago Public Libraries and their hours to our database!

– Doodling (draw your area directly on the map – dragging for desktop and tapping for mobile devices)
– Can be used on any smart device and computer ( HTML5 )
– Events
– Amenities
– Libraries added!
– Also gives you HOW TO GET THERE via CTA on the app! Parks and libraries!
– local meetups at that Park!
– Social integration with facebook, foursquare, Google+, etc.
– Google Calender integration and Sharing via email, bluetooth, facebook, etc.
For those without an Android, use our handy Web app, new for the Grand Challenge. It leverages the latest HTML5 technology to allow you to filter parks based on amenities on-demand, or to zoom in on any address you specify in order to see the nearby parks. As in the Android app, click on any of the park placemarks to see the amenities, upcoming events, and links related to the selected park, plus share via social media and Google Calendar. The Web app also allows you to see CTA public transit options near the park when you click on a park’s placemark.
The coolest feature by far in the Web app is the novel ability to draw shapes on the map using the “Doodle Your Area” feature. Once you submit your doodle, a list of all the upcoming events at these parks will be displayed, based on real-time scraping of the Chicago Parks websites. Such an ability to filter points by shapes has never (to my knowledge) been implemented in HTML5 & JavaScript, thus allowing folks who don’t have Flash to partake in this robust search feature. Obviously this technology has substantial promise, since it can be utilized for any use case where people may need to filter any type of place by specific location. We plan to expand this service to include other places of interest to Chicago citizens.
